Star Trek Online - Updated!

Postby JaceRidley » Thu Feb 11, 2010 1:41 pm

So now that the game has been live for about 2 weeks(for me, since I got in on Headstart) I finally made Commander and thought I'd take this time to show you some of the game imagery. Before, I had promised pictures of things like uniforms and such so now I'm making good. Most of these were taken on my game machine, running at maximum game specs. Your results may vary.

First: Uniforms...

First, you have the TOS Uniforms(if you got the Digital Deluxe Edition of the Game). Your rank is displayed on your cuffs as always..
Image

And then the TOS Movie Uniforms, and the TNG Era Uniform/Cadet Uniform. The TNG one on the left can be made to look exactly like the TNG Era uniforms through picking your colors...
Image

And then we have the multitude of Star Trek Online ORIGINAL Uniforms. Some of these are quite cool, some are a bit much. All uniforms(both canon and non-canon) are very customizable through an average of 3-5 color choices per each one, plus various commbadges and rank insignia.

My characters use the TNG Movie Era uniforms with the Grey shoulders. I'll grab some pics of my crew soon.

Next we have: Locales

I've been a little bit of everywhere, almost. I've visited alot, but once I get my Captaincy, and then my main Sovereign ship, I'll do more normal exploring and roleplaying. Until then, here's a few things I've seen and loved:

Wolf 359 has a tribute to the battle. The are is LITTERED with hulking masses of what used to be ships and borg cube and in the center there is this large hologram as tribute atop a huge platform.
Image

Vulcan is gorgeous, but very red and there still isn't much going on there yet, but this image is just beautiful
Image

The Briar Patch, from Star Trek Insurrection, is actually a covert mission you have to do to destroy the Klingons setting up a staging area within. The metreon gas pockets are dangerous and have to be avoided or else they blow up your ship. Still...it's beautiful
Image

During one mission, I had to retrieve a starfleet officer who was taken, by the Klingons, into the past via the Guardian of Forever, which I got to visit. I promise a better picture of this next time I swing by the area. It really is rather pretty and it's "slideshow" effect in the portal is quite neat.
Image

During another mission, I had to get onboard a starbase and enter the Landing Pad to secure a runabout about to be stolen by Orions.
Image

And this Starbase, I just liked the location of:
Image

There was another mission where I had to stop the Doomsday Device...
Image

...and shortly thereafter, a FLEET of ships(all player controlled) was ordered to pursue and destroy the Crystalline Entity before it destroyed a colony. This fight was RIDICULOUSLY difficult and took a fleet of around 30 Player Controlled ships to take it down...and it still took us something like 20 minutes.

Locales Part 2:

First, a quick view of the bridge I had aboard my tier 1 ship, the Shi'Khar-class USS Atlantia.

And then we have Deep Space 9 which was a beautiful site to see(these were taken during Beta actually)...

Respectively, OPS, Quark's, and the Exterior of the Bajoran Temple..

Last Part for now...

My Ships. So far I have 5. The Shi'Khar-class USS Atlantia which I didn't bother to get pictures of because it looks like my beta ship.

Then I have the TOS-era Constitution-class, USS Republic. You know what that looks like because it's identical to the old Enterprise..

My Tier-2 ship(Lieutenant Commander ranks) was the Constitution Refit-2 Class, USS Challenger..
Image
Had to put into starbase after one battle...
Image

And then, last night, I was promoted to Commander and got a new assignment. Because you get your main ship for 1 credit doesn't mean you can't have OTHER ships, so...even though I got my heavy cruiser for free, I spent 60K in credits on a Heavy Escort as well...because I wanted it. lol

So, first we have my main ship, the Stargazer-class USS Babylon. She just LOOKS mean.

And also, my Akira-variant, USS Archangel

More excellent images that make me wish I could play the game. I think my favorite image is the Black version of the TOS Era movie uniform. To me it looks 'bad-ass' even though that may not conform to the original intent of a non-aggressive Starfleet. I feel a manip request coming on. The ships look good also.

heh, you had a couple screens of your Excalibur-variant that looked almost identical to mine. Very nice shots indeed.

My Akira's better...:P

Finally hit RA2 and switched to the Hephaestus-class (Prometheus Variant): I'll have to get screens posted now!

Is it possible to have the Galaxy Class Refit version with the 3 Warp Nacelle's in the game?

No and yes...

It's not a standard ship or modification that you can make with the ship builder. However, STO has a "refer-a-friend" system going now where, if you can get five friends to try out the game, buy the game, AND subscribe for at least one month...you get the Galaxy dreadnought as an end-level ship. Or, you know...if you have $300 to drop and just refer yourself 5 times, that works too. I've got two friends already, and might have a third soon; if I ever get it, I'll let you know.

Actually, the Dreadnought variant is now available as a ship costume for about 25 bucks in the C-Store, but only usable once you reach Rear Admiral. Just so you know...

C-Store is one of the best parts of the game. Adds nothing important to gameplay, but for aesthetics and roleplay fanatics like me, it's wonderful.
